Brown Bag Books
This last weekend I was visiting friends in San Pedro at Brouwerij West, enjoying beers and food trucks. We wandered next door to Crafted to check out the local handmade craft scene. Tucked away a in a back corner booth we discovered Brown Bag Books, a really cool little book nook in that big warehouse of handcrafted miscellany.
As you browse the tables and shelves, you immediately get the feeling that the curator of these books has a great time selecting and featuring their finds. They had a little bit of everything, and all of it was interesting.
I was cracking up at the handmade section labels on the back shelves, "Books We Love To Hate" and "Sciency-y" are a treat.
Of course I found a book to buy. When looking around for a shopkeeper, I encountered this beautiful sign. Honesty Library! I fell a little bit in love then, it was so charming. I put my money in the box, walked away with my new new/old book friend, and was so happy.
This shop is a darling little labor of love. On their site, they call themselves "mobile book sellers" who can sell books at your event, if you are looking to feature a lovely second-hand book browsing experience. Their calendar has info on events they sell as around the Los Angeles area, such as Smorgasburg LA and Artist and Fleas.
I was pleasantly surprised to wander into an unexpected bookshop on a beer-y afternoon. Worth a visit if you find yourself in the area. They have a lovely one-eyed cat pillow you can curl up with if you find something good to read.
